Overview
The Info Block row type displays static content within a record's layout. Unlike form fields, which allow data entry, an Info Block presents fixed text, guidance, or notices that help users understand the context of the record or provide instructions for completing the form.
When to Use
Use the Info Block row type when you need to:
- Provide instructions or guidance for filling in a form section
- Display important notices or warnings related to the record type
- Show static reference information that does not change per record
- Add explanatory text between form sections to improve user understanding
- Present policy or compliance notices that users should be aware of
Properties
| Property | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Yes | Must be set to infoBlock |
| Header | No | An optional heading displayed above the information content. |
| HTML | Yes | The content to display. Supports formatted text including paragraphs, lists, bold text, links, and other formatting. |
| Visibility | No | A condition controlling when this info block is visible. This is particularly useful for showing context-specific guidance based on field values. |
Content Formatting
The content of an Info Block supports rich text formatting, including:
- Paragraphs — structured text blocks
- Bold and italic — emphasis for key points
- Bulleted and numbered lists — step-by-step instructions or lists of requirements
- Links — hyperlinks to external resources or documentation
- Headings — sub-sections within the info block
Example Uses
- A notice at the top of a compliance form explaining what documentation is required
- Step-by-step instructions for a data entry process
- A warning that appears (via visibility conditions) when a record is in a specific state, such as "This record is under review and cannot be modified."
- Reference information about company policies or procedures
Best Practices
- Keep info block content concise and focused on actionable guidance
- Use visibility conditions to show relevant guidance only when it is needed, keeping the interface clean
- Place info blocks before the form sections they relate to, so users see the guidance before encountering the fields
- Use formatting sparingly — a wall of bold text loses its emphasis
